01Define what latency means for the buyer
For video, the question is visible lip synchronization. For games, it is the gap between an action and its sound. For calls, it is conversational delay across the full connection. Choose the use case first because one pass does not answer all three.
02Freeze the product and device matrix
Record the earbud sample, firmware, phone, operating system, app or game version, connection state and enabled audio features. Confirm whether a low-latency or game mode is active. Reset and pair consistently before comparing models or firmware builds.
03Use a local visual reference
Play a locally stored clip with a visible impact and matching sound. Observe it several times or record the screen and sound with a high-frame-rate camera when a numerical estimate is required. Keep camera frame rate and analysis method beside the result.
04Add real applications and games
Repeat a streaming lip-sync clip and a game action the buyer knows. Apps may add buffering or synchronization, and games may behave differently after updates. A local file, streaming service and game should remain separate rows rather than being summarized as one latency result.
05Compare every advertised mode
Switch between normal and any low-latency mode using the documented control. Confirm the mode indicator, repeat the same content and note changes in stability, range or sound if observed. Do not assume a named mode is active because an icon appeared once.
06Do not mix calls with media playback
Bluetooth profiles define different device behaviors, and a live call also includes network delay. Log conversational behavior, interruptions and talk-over separately from media sync. A delayed remote voice cannot be assigned to the earbuds without a comparison path.
07Approve a matrix, not a universal number
Keep repeated observations for each phone, app, content and mode. Investigate inconsistent results before approval. If a supplier provides a millisecond claim, request the equipment, signal path, codec, software and calculation method rather than treating it as true for every device.
